Sorrel Quiz Night raises over £1200 for charity

Every other Wednesday throughout the year the Sorrel Horse quizzers (11 resident teams plus visitors) pay £1 towards the Quiz Charity Fund.  The last quiz of the year saw teams competing on Christmas themed questions (set by resident team On the Piste), with a raffle, sandwiches & mince pies and raised a fantastic £150 in one evening.  This brought the total raised over the year to over £1200 which allows us to donate:

£600 to each of our chosen charities – St Elizabeth’s Hospice and the RSPCA Martlesham, for their major self-funded building work, Project Winston
£50 for charities in memory of Ivan Clarke
£100 to the Woodbridge Food Bank
A donation to the carol singers (raising money for The Children’s Society) and a gratuity to the Sorrel Horse Staff Fund.

A closely fought evening saw Universally Challenged win by half a mark over runners up (and not aptly named!) Last but Not Least.   With no expense spared, both winners and runners up received a mini mars bar for each team member.

The Sorrel contributed sandwiches and a Sorrel Horse / Alderton Swan voucher worth £45 as the main raffle prize, and delicious mince pies were kindly supplied by three regular quizzers Harriet, Mary & Dawn. As always we were well looked after by Mary and her team behind the bar.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed!
