About us

The Sorrel Horse is a quintessential English country pub with tap drawn cask ales, thatched roof, tiled floors and an original bar billiards table.

Nestled in Shottisham, a picturesque rural Suffolk village, it’s the perfect stopping off point for exploring the area.

In August 2011, a community led project purchased the Sorrel Horse with the aim of ensuring the pub’s long-term viability for the local and wider community.  This has been a huge success and culminated in Flag of Suffolk (managers of the nearby Alderton Swan), taking over the management of the pub from 4th November 2017.  We believe this partnership offers the best long term security for our fantastic local pub and also ensures our most loyal and valued customers continue to enjoy a friendly warm welcome, excellent service, great beer and glorious pub grub.

About us

History tells us the Sorrel Horse was originally a Smugglers Inn back in the 15th Century.  We still have the paddock at the back for visiting riders and Sorrel Horse is now a community owned quintessential English Country Pub with thatched roof, cosy bar and restaurant and cask ales on tap.
